The\u00a0CONCULTDIOSA\u00a0<\/strong>is an international congress to be held at the\u00a0Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche<\/strong>\u00a0(Alicante, Spain) on\u00a0June 25-26, 2026<\/strong>, in a\u00a0hybrid format<\/strong> (in person and online). It is organized by the team of El Portal de la Diosa<\/strong> and the Research Group \u201cEconomy, Culture and Gender\u201d (ECULGE)<\/strong>, with the collaboration of the Equality Unit<\/strong> and the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies<\/strong> (CIEG)<\/strong> at the Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche. It is sponsored by the\u00a0Women\u2019s Institute of the Ministry of Equality<\/strong>\u00a0of the Government of Spain.<\/p>\n

The aim of this congress is to analyze, from a gender perspective, new forms of feminine spirituality<\/strong>, also known as the \u201cSpirituality of the Goddess\u201d or \u201cGoddess Movement\u201d, where sisterhood, empowerment, fourth-wave feminism and the Internet provide many women with alternative ways of engaging with spirituality and transcendence\u2014different from those imposed by the great monotheistic religions, which are patriarchal, sexist, androcentric and subordinating.<\/p>\n

This international academic event, which can be attended both in person and virtually<\/strong>, is conceived as a space for interdisciplinary dialogue and a meeting point for academics, professionals, and activists<\/strong> interested in exploring the richness and diversity of women\u2019s circles, as well as their impact on building healthier, fairer, more equal, and more sustainable societies. It prioritizes the perspectives of social and cultural anthropology, sociology, history, fine arts, audiovisual media, literature, psychology, and gender-based spirituality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The congress seeks to open a dialogue between academia and women\u2019s experiences<\/strong>, connecting theoretical and scientific contributions with the practical experiences of Women\u2019s Circles<\/em>,\u00a0weaving networks between university and society, academia and the Goddess Movement<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2014both nationally and internationally.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We consider this a phenomenon that demands scholarly attention from a gender and intersectional perspective<\/strong>,\u00a0on the part of universities. Ignoring it would perpetuate academia\u2019s shortsightedness to women\u2019s spirituality and experience, particularly those that focus on individual and collective empowerment, collaboration, and sisterhood from a feminist lens, in direct friction with patriarchal values and rules.<\/p>\n
